Condition: great overall, with no light damage and sharp contrast.
Background: Burns, a War of 1812 veteran, joined the Union fight during the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. After borrowing a rifle from a wounded soldier, he volunteered with Union troops and fought alongside the 7th Wisconsin, proving to be a skilled sharpshooter. He was wounded, captured, and later released by Confederates. His bravery made him a Northern hero, and post-war, he became a notable figure at the battlefield site.
