J.E.B. Stuart was a Confederate cavalry general known for his daring raids and reconnaissance during the American Civil War. He served as Robert E. Lee's "eyes and ears," providing crucial intelligence on Union troop movements. Despite his skill and popularity, his absence during the Battle of Gettysburg has been cited as a contributing factor to the Confederate defeat. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Yellow Tavern in 1864 and died at the age of 31.
