Griffin served with the hard-fighting 90th Pennsylvania Infantry (Philadelphia Legion) through some of the war’s bloodiest campaigns, including Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Petersburg.
