Offered here is a rare and historically significant Civil War-era secondary martial sidearm, produced by the J. M. Cooper Company, Pittsburgh, PA. This particular example is a Second Model Pocket Revolver, manufactured at the company’s Frankford (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania facility between 1864 and 1869. Strongly reminiscent of the Colt Model 1849 Pocket, this revolver is an excellent representative of wartime private production sidearms.
