Cooper Second Model Pocket Revolver – .31 Caliber – Serial #1337 with Worn Holster.

Offered here is a rare and historically significant Civil War-era secondary martial sidearm, produced by the J. M. Cooper Company, Pittsburgh, PA. This particular example is a Second Model Pocket Revolver, manufactured at the company’s Frankford (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania facility between 1864 and 1869. Strongly reminiscent of the Colt Model 1849 Pocket, this revolver is an excellent representative of wartime private production sidearms.

This revolver is an excellent example of a secondary martial revolver issued or privately purchased during the Civil War. Cooper revolvers, while not produced in large quantities compared to Colt or Remington models, filled an important role and are becoming increasingly collectible. With its matching numbers and legible markings, this revolver represents a solid opportunity for a Civil War or early American firearms collector.
