Confederate Letter From Camp Chase "Delighted to get back to Dixie Agane". This letter was written from Capt. W. E. Johnson who was member of the 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles.
 
Camp Chase April 6, 1863
Mr. Jno. B. Taylor 
 
Dear Friend, your kind letter of the fourth was duly received and in reply would say that my health is nearly restored and I learned that we are to be sent off on exchange on the 8th via Washington City. I am delighted to get back to Dixie again. I do most sincerely thank you for your kind offer but it will be useless for you to send me anything else as I will not be here to receive it. I shall always feel grateful for your brotherly kindness. I hope it will be in my power to reciprocate. Please deliver my due regards to your kind mother and family. If you hear an opportunity as soon and write to me. In conclusion I have the honor to reunion with much respect.
