This building is built on the "Doric Style of Architecture," and stands in the centre of Capitol Square, on the highest eminence in the City. It is chiefly noted for being occupied by the Congress of
the late Confederate States, and is now occupied by the Legislature of the State of Virginia. In the Rotunda stands Houdon's Statue of Washington, and in one of the niches in the wall, can be seen a mar ble bust of Lafavette: a fine view of the City can be had from its root.
