CDV of Major Alexander Freeman US Volunteer Paymaster with Philadelphia backmark. Born in 1811 he served as a United States Army Paymaster serving until his death in 1864.

"FREEMAN - On the 2d inst., at his residence No. [1428] N. Twelfth street, ALEXANDER HENRY FREEMAN in the 53rd year of his age.  The relatives and friends of the family are respecfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence this Thursday, October 6th, at 10 o'clock A. M. without further notice."
