1/9th Plate Tintype: Rare Prescott Revolver, Likely the Only Known Example Photographed with a Union Soldier

This exceptional image captures a young Federal cavalry trooper proudly displaying an exceedingly rare Prescott revolver, manufactured in Worcester, Massachusetts. Produced between circa 1861 and 1863, with an estimated total output of just a few hundred units, this elusive firearm is seldom encountered in Civil War photography. It is highly improbable that another such revolver will appear in a period image—let alone one exhibiting this remarkable sharpness, vividly highlighting the trooper's crossed sabers insignia. This image is a touch dark but in a head on view is crystal clear showing off a incredibly rare revolver.
