1/6th Plate Tintype of a Union Soldier with Revolver, Brass Shoulder Scales, and Sharp U.S. Belt Plate – Half Leatherette Case

This excellent sixth-plate tintype presents a full-standing portrait of a Union infantryman in a striking pose. The soldier is equipped, prominently displaying a revolver tucked in his belt, brass shoulder scales on his coat, and a crisp, clear U.S. waist belt plate.

The image offers strong detail in the uniform and accoutrements, particularly the bright brass shoulder scales and the sharply defined “US” belt plate — both highly desirable elements in Civil War soldier photography. The soldier’s confident  pose adds to the martial character of the portrait.

Housed in its original half leatherette case, this tintype is well-protected and display-ready. Images showing such a combination of revolver, shoulder scales, and a clear U.S. plate are relatively scarce and especially appealing to collectors.

A fine, well-detailed example of a fully accoutered Union soldier that would be a standout piece in any collection of cased tintypes or armed Federal infantry portraits.
