Excellent 1/6th Plate Tintype of a Full-Standing Union Cavalry Soldier with Sword and Pistol

This sharp 1/6th plate tintype presents a full-standing portrait of a Federal cavalry trooper in full uniform, proudly posed beside a table displaying his sword and pistol. The soldier wears a regulation shell jacket and the  US Model 1851 enlisted waist belt, with clear details of his uniform buttons, accoutrements. His confident stance and direct gaze make for a classic and imposing martial image.

The tintype retains strong contrast and excellent clarity, highlighting the fine details of his cavalry gear and uniform. It is attractively housed in its complete original leatherette case with intact velvet pad, preserving the plate in period fashion.

Union cavalry portraits showing full standing views with both edged and sidearm weapons displayed are relatively scarce and highly sought after. This well-presented example, with its clear view of the Model 1851 belt and regulation shell jacket, would be a standout addition to any Civil War cavalry, Union cavalry equipment, or soldier photography collection. A strong, display-ready image with excellent visual impact.
