1/6th Plate Daguerreotype of Distinguished Gentleman in Thermoplastic Case

1/6th Plate Daguerreotype of a Distinguished Older Gentleman in Thermoplastic Case

This is a superb 1/6th plate daguerreotype featuring a dignified older gentleman with a strong, distinguished presence. The subject is impeccably dressed and gazes directly at the viewer with a serious and commanding expression. The image is exceptionally sharp with outstanding clarity, brilliant highlights, and beautiful depth.

The portrait is housed in a complete original thermoplastic (Union) case. These ornate cases were popular in the 1850s and are highly sought after by collectors. While the case remains attractive and structurally sound, it does have a minor chip at the top edge, which is common for thermoplastic cases of this age and does not detract significantly from its overall display appeal.
