1/4 Plate Tintype of Union Soldier with Tongue Buckle and Pistol in Holster

1/4 Plate Tintype of a Union Soldier with Tongue Buckle and Pistol in Holster Housed in a mint thermoplastic case

A strong 1/4 plate tintype depicting a Union soldier wearing a distinctive tongue buckle and carrying a pistol in his holster. The image offers excellent content and clarity, with fine detail visible in the uniform, equipment, and facial features.
Some crazing is present across the plate. The crazing remains completely stable and is primarily noticeable when viewed at an angle under light; it is largely hidden in a straight-on viewing position and does not significantly detract from the overall appearance.

The tintype is housed in a mint-condition 1/4 plate thermoplastic case, a desirable example that carries a standalone value in the $100–200 range. The combination of solid photographic content and an exceptional case makes this a particularly appealing piece.
